The China-Nordic Arctic Research Center (CNARC) is an international consortium initiated by the Polar Research Institute of China (PRIC) in collaboration with respective institutes in the Nordic countries and China to promote and facilitate China-Nordic cooperation for Arctic research.
The Nordic Institution are: The Icelandic Center for Research, Arctic Center, University of Lapland, Fridtjof Nansen Institute, Nord University, Nordic Institute of Asian Studies, Norwegian Polar Institute, Swedish Polar Research Secretariat, The Arctic University of Norway (UiT), Umeå University and The University of Akureyri. The Chinese member institutions are: PRIC, Shanghai Institute for International Studies, Ocean University of China, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tongji University, Dalian Maritime University, Center of Polar Issues Studies, South China Business College, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and Shanghai Ocean University.
CNARC provides a platform for academic cooperation with the following aims:
- To increase awareness, understanding and knowledge of the Arctic and its global impacts.
- To promote cooperation for sustainable development of the Nordic Arctic and coherent development of China in the global context.
